My Block, My Hood, My City's Explorers Program takes TEENS from under-resourced communities on explorations around the city.

MBMHMC provides youth with new experiences, exposing them to possibilities beyond their own communities. Our mission is to help teenagers overcome the poverty and isolation they face, boosting educational attainment and opening them to opportunities that make a difference in their lives.

We believe in providing opportunities for others to step outside their comfort zone and explore new communities, cultures, and cuisines in an effort to gain a greater understanding of the world.

We believe in encouraging others to fully immerse themselves in new experiences, continuously soaking up new knowledge and expanding their vision of what is possible.

We believe that each and every one of us needs to strive for self improvement and take responsibility for ourselves and our communities; it is through efforts of service, empathy, and collaboration that we will see our communities evolve and also ourselves.

PAST Explorations

THE HEART OF WICKER PARK

We took a group of Teenagers from the Englewood Community up north to explore Wicker Park. We visited the Silver Room, where the owner Eric talked with the teenagers about starting their own business. We also ate lunch at the famous Santullo's Eatery .

THE ENERGY IN EDGEWATER

We took a group of teenagers from the Humboldt Park community way north to explore the Edgewater community area.  The explorers took an Intro to 3D Printing Class at Edgewater Workbench, ate lunch at the Ethiopian Diamond Restaurant, and visited Lickity Split candy shop.
